Description
As a 3D artist I am quite familiar with all the pitfalls and difficulties of learning how to work with 3Ds Max and VRAY 5, and my objective for this course is to use my experience in the field to present some of the most essential and useful techniques which could help you in your own projects. As a general rule, I always make use of simplicity and clarity in my tutorials and additionally for this workshop I have tried my best to transfer some of the most important points in VRAY and Interior design and rendering in as short of a time as possible. I have also included my own go-to setting parameters to achieve the best interior renders possible, and explaining the most effective options that are crucial for having the most realistic renders.One of the biggest problems that 3D artists face is that they do not know what type of render setup to use in their scenes for both their test renders and the final render. Furthermore, they do not know how to light their interior scenes properly to achieve a realistic atmosphere and also take fast renders during their project. They may also have difficulties creating their required materials resulting in a very unnatural-looking render with objects that do not resemble real-life at all.In a nutshell, in this course I have tried to familiarize you with the easiest and yet the most helpful methods used to place and setup your cameras in your scene in a that you will have an easy time advancing the next phases of your projects. I sincerely believe that if the cameras are placed and adjusted properly, a big portion of the work is done because they play a big role in helping achieve realistic renders that would make the untrained eye doubt whether they are an actual photo or a render. The shared optimal setting for camera setting parameters that I share with you, regardless of what version of 3Ds MAX or VRAY youโre using, will help you take the best renders possible.Next, you will learn all the required tips and techniques to implement both natural and artificial lights in your scene so that you could have a great contrast in the scene. These tips, some of which would defy and challenge the popular beliefs regarding lighting essentials, will help you get the best-looking renders really quickly.After that we will move on to creating, changing and assigning materials to our objects in a normal interior scene. There are a lot of 3D artist who have taken several courses in 3D design but yet struggle when it comes to creating realistic and life-like materials in their projects. The problem arises from their lack of knowledge in all the different options and maps used when working with the material editor. In this course, I will take you through a step by step and simple review of those maps and options that could just revolutionize your idea of material design and manipulation which will ultimately bring about realistic objects. Additionally, you will learn how to combine several textures and maps to create complex objects.Next, you will learn how to adjust the different parameters in the frame buffer and render setup so that you would not have to use any third-party software like photoshop etcโฆ as a post-production method to elevate and embellish your final renders. A lot of the published renders in the field lack the required sharpness and realism that could the project to the next level, and that is the reason a lot of 3D artists have gone on to use other software to improve their renders. In this workshop I will teach you to take multiple renders without any limitation as to the suitable camera angles and you will not be needing to add anything to your final renders at all.Finally, I will take you through some of the most useful and important features of VRAY 5 such as downloading, installing and implementing a material library that could provide you with a list of great readily-available materials and textures for your work. Also, I will teach you how to change any light parameter in your scene without taking multiple renders or interactive ones, simply using the newly added feature in VRAY 5 called Light MIX.

Physically-based rendering (PBR) simulates the way light works in the real world. It achieves greater realism with less effort than traditional 3D rendering. You will learn a lot of things in this course. There is just too much to cover in this short description. For more detailed information, you can check the curriculum section. But, just to give you a quick overview of what you will learn. There are a total of 13 chapters in this course outside the introduction chapter.

In the first chapter, you will be introduced to 3ds Maxโs UI. You will learn different ways to navigate the viewport and utilize the display settings. In the second chapter, you will learn basic object operations such as how to create objects, and how to modify them. You will also learn object selection, object transformation, and so on. In the third chapter, we will focus on scene management. You will learn how to use the โScene explorerโ. Then using layers, groups, etc.

Starting from the fourth chapter, we will focus on 3D modeling. In this chapter, youโll learn polygonal modeling techniques related to each of the sub-object types. We will cover sub-object selection techniques. Then we will also discuss 3D modeling concepts such as โNormal directionโ and โBackface cullingโ, etc. At the end of this chapter, we will have a project modeling a table lamp product called โAtolloโ.

In chapter five, we will focus on precision modeling techniques. We will start with the basics of measurement units. Learn different snapping features, and then learn various tools for aligning objects, and so on. There are 3 projects in this chapter. First, we will model a stool called โTamtamโ. Then we model a side table product called โEtnaโ. And on the last project, we will model another side table product called โLackโ.

Next, in chapter six, weโre going to build a kitchen counter product called โWerkโ. Weโll cover everything from setting up the references. Then modeling the base frame, then the panels, and so on. Until we have a finished model.

In chapter 7, we will focus on spline-based modeling techniques. You will learn the basics such as creating, selecting, and converting spline vertices. Then we move on to learn various techniques of spline editing. After that, you will learn how to turn splines into 3D models. There are a total of 7 projects in this chapter alone. First, you will model a simple S letter logo. Then in the next project model a circular classic ornament. And then model a tileable 3D pattern. Then, you will model a vase product called โEchasseโ. Then you will create a crown molding object. In the next project, you will model a table lamp product called โDianaโ. And then finally you will create a roman column.

In chapter 8, we will focus on subdivision modeling techniques which are very useful for creating organic-like objects. And then learn compound-based modeling techniques, which basically combine existing 3D objects to create new ones. There are 3 projects in this chapter. The first project is creating a teacup model. Then the second project is creating a washbasin. In the third project, you will create a stool product called โAlmaโ.

Chapter 9 is a project chapter. In this chapter, we will build a chair product called โPapilio Shellโ using subdivision, compound-based modeling techniques, and other related techniques that we have discussed earlier.

Starting from chapter 10, we will shift our focus from 3d modeling to look development. In this chapter you will learn the basics of rendering, and how to use the physical material. We are also going to cover different methods of environment lighting. At the end of this chapter, we will apply what weโve learned to add lighting and materials to the chair product that we modeled before in the previous chapter.

In chapter 11, we will focus on texturing and basic UV mapping techniques. You will learn different types of textures, from procedural textures, image textures, PBR textures, Substance textures, etc. At the end of this chapter, you will do another project. You will add material and PBR textures onto the kitchen table product that we have modeled in the earlier chapter.

Chapter 12 focuses on the nitty-gritty of UV unwrapping techniques. After learning the tools provided, we will explore different approaches to unwrap 3D objects. From the automatic method, projection method, peel seams method, and so on. In this chapter, we will have 2 projects. The first is creating a low poly barrel. And second is creating a product packaging.

In chapter 13, we will have the last project related to look development, which is creating a chair product called โSan Marcoโ. Because each part of the model is different, we will use different UV unwrapping techniques that best suit the modelโs part. Here is the result of the final project.
